PALS Provider Course

Description:   <p> <b><font color="red">ATLANTICARE EMPLOYEES</font ></b>

<p>This 14 hour course is for healthcare professionals involved in the management of cardiopulmonary arrest of the pediatric patient. The information is presented through a series of lectures and small group practice stations. </p>

<p><b>Day 1 </b><br>
Introduces the basic skill components to manage a pediatric cardiac arrest.</p>
<p><b>Day 2 </b><br>
Is devoted to practice in cardiac arrest scenarios. Time is provided to enable each participant to manage a cardiac arrest scenario and review cardiac dysrhythmias in the pediatric patient. </p>
<p><b>Completion Requirements: </b><br>
. Demonstrated leadership during a cardiac arrest scenario <br>
. 85% correct on the theory and dysrhythmia interpretation exam<br>
. Demonstrated mastery of ventilation and endotracheal intubation techniques <br>
. 100% attendance <br>
<b>Course Preparation: </b><br>
. Allow at least eight hours to adequately prepare for this course <br>
. Required pre-reading from the PALS Provider Manual or Handbook of Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC Handbook Spiral Bound). <br>
. Length: minimum 16 hours<br>
. Book price: $32.00 <br>
<b>Prerequisites: </b><br>
. Current <b>(unexpired) </b>CPR for the Healthcare provider card required. <br>
. Students must be healthcare professionals presently involved in the management of cardiac arrest in the pediatric patient. <br>
. Proficiency in dysrhythmia interpretation is strongly recommended. <br>
. A student with an expired PALS card must take this course for recertification.<br>
. Pretest must be completed inside the PALS manual and results brought to class. <br>

Non-ARMC employees- Please call Life Support Training Center at (609) 641-5856 to make arrangements for your book. Non- Atlanticare participants who are not able to reschedule to another course are refunded their registration fee less an administration fee of $25.00 for basic courses (BLS and HS) and $50.00 for advanced courses (ACLS, PALS, PHTLS and AMLS).

If you are unable to attend a class in which you have enrolled, please call the Access Center at 1(888)569-1000 with least 7days advance notice. No refunds will be issued for classes that are not properly cancelled.

<BR><b><p><i>No Show No Refund.</i></p>
ARMC employees who fail to show for a class in which they are enrolled will be charged the class fee upon their 2nd enrollment. Registered ARMC employees who call in sick should have his or her supervisor email joanne.ferebee@atlanticare.org. *Note if you have any physical limitations or special needs contact us in advance of the class so that accommodations can be made.

If you do not receive your card within 30 days of your course, please contact the training center to obtain a duplicate card. However, we cannot honor requests for free replacement cards past the 30 days. The replacement fee for lost cards is $15.00. <BR>
