Dr. Rosenthal is a member of the Faculty of the Division of Endocrinology at Nassau University Medical Center. A graduate of New York City’s Bronx High School of Science and the University College of Arts and Science of New York University where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, Dr. Rosenthal earned his MD degree from New York University School of Medicine where he was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha honor medical society. After graduation, he served as Intern, Medical Resident and Chief Medical Resident at Wilford Hall US Air Force Medical Center, Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. Subsequently, Dr. Rosenthal studied medical radio-isotopes at the Oak Ridge Associated Universities in Tennessee and was Chief of Medicine, USAF Regional Medical Center, Chanute AFB, IL. He then became Chief of Medicine, 11th USAF Hospital, U-tapao Royal Thai Navy Airfield, Sattahip, Thailand in support of combat operations of the 307th Strategic Wing (SAC). During that time, Dr. Rosenthal also served as Consultant in Internal Medicine to the Surgeon General, 13th Air Force (PACAF).
Upon leaving the Air Force with the rank of Major, Dr. Rosenthal completed his subspecialty Fellowship in the Divisions of Endocrinology and Nuclear Medicine at Boston University School of Medicine/Boston University Medical Center. Returning to the New York metropolitan area, Dr. Rosenthal entered into the private practice of referral Endocrinology on Long Island and joined the teaching staff at NUMC – a position he has continued to the present. In 2006, Dr. Rosenthal left private practice to devote all of his professional time to NUMC.
Dr. Rosenthal, a Fellow of both the American College of Physicians and the American College of Endocrinology, is a member of the Endocrine Society, the American Thyroid Association, the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists and the Society of Uniformed Endocrinologists. His principal professional focus is in the field of thyroid disease and he has served in leadership positions with the ATA – currently as chairman of the Clinical Affairs Committee. Recent publications and national presentations have been in the areas of radio-iodine treatment and diagnostic genomics in thyroid disease. Dr. Rosenthal has been continuously recognized as a Castle Connelly Top Doctor in the New York Metropolitan Area since its inception in 1992.
