Physician Bio: Vishes V Mehta, MD MPH (516) 572-1566 Assistant Professor, Department of Surgery. Associate Program Director, General Surgery Residency Program Dr. Mehta pursued his undergraduate education at Emory University in Atlanta, then went on to obtain his medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine. While in medical school, he developed an interest in healthcare reform and the US Healthcare system. He elected to obtain a Master’s degree in Public Health with a concentration in Health Policy at Rollins School of Public Health in Atlanta. He then completed a 5-year General Surgery Residency in The Bronx, New York in the Montefiore Medical Center/Jacobi Medical Center system. He completed a Trauma/Surgical Critical Care Fellowship at a high-volume Level 1 Trauma Center at the University of California at Irvine Medical Center. He is board certified in both General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care. At Nassau University Medical Center, Dr. Mehta practices Acute Care and General Surgery with a breadth of experience in diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, hepatobiliary system, and abdominal wall. He is skilled in minimally invasive approaches to care to ensure the best possible outcome with faster recovery and less pain for the patient. He is an active member of the Trauma Surgery and Surgical Critical Care team with experience in management of a variety of high acuity blunt and penetrating injury mechanisms. He has a clinical interest in chest wall injury and the surgical management of rib fractures, nutrition and feeding access, and compassionate end-of-life care. He is focused on delivering a patient-centered and family-oriented approach to care. |
